What to
do

What we did is so little compared to what you can do in Beijing. It just
depends what you like, and the choice will be anyway, huge.
From art galleries, to excellent and delicate food, Pubs, Discos, Museums,
History, shopping of all kinds. Now, if you prefer the nature, beautiful parks
are within the city and if you feel like seeing something different, it is
really worth it then to take a cab (very cheap) and leave the city to discover
the gorgeous surrounding landscape. The summer palace is near the city and
already offers great opportunities. Other cities, and historical sites are
everywhere around Beijing, the difficulty is really which one to choose, as they
are so many attractive ones.
Some Touring sites recommended
- The Forbidden City (prepare for some long walk as it is big)
- If you plan to go to the Great Wall, avoid going to the Badaling part,
as it is far too touristic and not as nice as the Mutianyu one. Mutianyu is
just 30 minutes more driving and is really worth the extra time. Gorgeous, you
can also climb using a telecabin and going down using a toboggan, build by the
germans. Real fun !!
- Lama Temple
- Parks in the morning
- Ming Tombs

Some Shopping areas recommended
- Golden Resources Mall (biggest in Asia). Prices are very standard but you
have a huge selection. Just make sure to have good walking shoes. As usual,
the last floor is for restaurant, with some being really delicious.
- Silk Market (xx more info to come)
- High Tech Malls (xxx more info to come)
- Week-end Market
- Peark Market (Hong Qiao Market)
- Wangfujing Street
- Hutong
